The Top 4 Reasons Why Your Bathroom Needs A Soap Dispenser

If you were to walk into your bathroom and take a look down at your sink, chances are it lays home to an array of products. Toothbrushes, toothpastes, bobby pins, hair products, brushes, combs, lotions, and most importantly… soap.

Whether your prefer soap bars or liquid soaps, soap plays the most important role in your cleansing routine. Why, soaps and bathrooms go together like peas and carrots.

But when your soap bottles and other bathroom products decide to claim your bathroom counter tops, eyesores ensue.

Below, check out the top 4 reasons your bathroom desperately needs a modern soap dispenser.

1. Organization

Like we said above, your cluttered bathroom counter top can sting the eyes of unsuspecting guests. In order to achieve modern bathroom glory, simplicity and organization is key. By installing a soap dispenser, you’ll be able to add order to your bathroom sink.

2. Germs

Did you know that on average, you come in contact with roughly 300 surfaces every 30 minutes, exposing you to over 840,000 germs? Furthermore, more than half of the population has admitted to not washing their hands after riding public transportation, using exercise equipment, or handling money.

Needless to say, bathroom products can be a breeding ground for bacteria. One pump of a soap dispenser can avoid contact with germ ridden soap bottles, bathroom surfaces, and other yucky products.

3. The Perfect Amount

How many times have you over-estimated the amount of soap or lotion needed to cleanse or moisturize your hands? Probably more times than you care to remember. Soap dispensers provide the perfect amount of liquid needed, allowing you to completely avoid this first world problem.

4. Bathroom Fashionista

Some soap manufacturers create some truly amazing products. From beautiful, handmade bars of soap, to incredibly moisturizing liquids. But what they don’t do, however, is design packaging that fits modern designs. Like your shower heads and bathroom faucets, soap dispensers are now sleek and elegant, completely falling in line with the aesthetics of your bathroom.

The Science Of Shower: Singing, Thinking, And Philosophizing In The Shower

A mystical, unexplained phenomenon occurs every time we step in to the shower. It’s in that brief time frame between drawing back your shower curtain and turning off the water where the answers to life’s most plaguing questions effortlessly become solved.

But why? Is there a reasonable explanation behind these mysterious events? Why on earth do we find solutions to our toughest conundrums while rinsing out our hair? Is there a reason why we sometimes stand lifeless, almost zombie like, absorbed in a state of near comatose as we day-dream our hot water away? And can someone please tell us why we belt out ballads as if we are winners of American Idol, when in all reality we sound like electrified cats?

Why do we do the things that we do in the shower?

showerWe at Speakman® needed answers. So we hired the nation’s top shower scientists, and collectively conducted experiments with over 500 participants, studying everything from brain waves during bathing, to the most common songs sung in the shower.

Our results?

Nothing…because we didn’t actually do that. But what we did do was send our crack research team out into the darkest depths of the World Wide Web to find answers. And what they found was that yes, there are reasons why we do what we do in the shower. For starters, interruptions are rare. Unless you’re one of those people who can’t go 5 minutes without being an arm’s length away from your cell phone, chances are you leave your iPhone outside of the bathroom. Which means that the lack of texts, tweets, and Candy Crush allows your mind to self-reflect. Also, the rush of water creates a sort of “white noise” that drowns out outside sounds, making concentration easier to come by.

Additionally, the shower has a direct impact on our senses. When we take a nice, warm shower, we become relaxed. When we become relaxed, we release a simple, organic chemical known as dopamine. Now, without getting to “sciencey,” the more dopamine that is released, the more creative we become, making the shower the ideal platform to, literally, get those creative juices flowing. It’s the reason why we come up with so many incredible ideas in the shower.

Makes sense doesn’t it?

Are you still with us? Great, because the release of brain chemicals, technical talk, and the perfect positioning of the moon still doesn’t explain why we treat our soap bars like they are microphones.

One logical solution is that we assume we can’t be heard because we ourselves can’t hear past the confines of our shower doors. And although that may be true, the real reason behind our showering symphonies is hidden within your bathroom walls. The small, confined space of the bathroom, paired with hard surfaces and lack of cushioned upholsteries, combine to make an acoustically pleasing environment where our voices are enriched and sound quality improves.

So, please stop kidding yourself. There is a reason why your best audience is a bottle of shampoo and an exfoliating loofah, and not a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden.

So, there you have it. If you haven’t fallen asleep during the duration of this blog, we thank you for your undivided attention. We hope we have answered the questions as to “Why do we sing in the shower?” or “Why do we get our best ideas in the shower?“. If you fall into the category of bathing day dreamers, showering philosophers, or bathtub rock stars, we leave you with this paraphrased quote from the brilliant Mark Twain:

“Sing like no one’s listening, dance like no one’s watching, and make sure you have a shower mat during these actions so you don’t fall and potentially hurt yourself.”

Because Some Things Are Worth Repeating

Have you noticed the surge in popularity currently circling around the decade known as the “Roarin’ 20’s?” You’d be blind not to. This decade seemingly reinvents itself in pop-culture regularly. It’s why 4.81 million people tuned in to the season premiere of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire.” Or why the latest rendition of “The Great Gatsby” drew over $300 million worldwide at the box office (although Leonardo DiCaprio may have helped).

But why? Why are we so obsessed with a period in time that occurred nearly a century ago? Maybe it’s in the swing of social change that swept through pop culture at that time. People artistically expressing themselves freely through music, art, poetry, films, dance, etc…Maybe it is in the timeless fashion that is still relived today, as even Tiffany & Co. designed an era-inspired jewelry collection. Or maybe it’s just a simple fascination with the past, and how things once were.

There really is no right answer, all of the aforementioned explanations to our love affair with the 1920’s would be an acceptable example. But to us, at Speakman®, we have a different take on this obsession.

Quality.

The 1920’s saw a revolution in technological advancements. Products that were made to last, and delivered a performance that you just can’t find anymore. It’s a principle in manufacturing that has guided our practices at Speakman® ever since we constructed our very first shower head over a 100 years ago.

It’s in this obsession with 1920’s lure, and our unwavering passion to deliver unrivaled quality that strive us to design fixtures that perfectly combined the two.

The result…the Anystream® Vintage™ and Anystream® Retro™ 6-Jet shower head.

SignatureBrassSellSheet

Each model features a very distinct, era-inspired design. The Anystream® Vintage™ shower head features a bold, octagonal solid-brass frame, whereas the Anystream® Retro™ shower head embodies the timeless fashion of the 20’s with smooth, elegant curves flowing throughout its brass shell.

Both models were constructed to feature the exact same technology equipped on our famed Anystream® S-2251 Icon shower head. The performance provided by these two shower heads are outer-worldly. In fact, to attempt to find a collection of words capable of giving justice to the euphoric bathing experience these shower heads possess would be an utter impossibility.

The Vintage™ shower head and Retro™ shower head are both equipped with Anystream® technology. A simple 360 degree rotation in either direction will allow bather’s to choose from 3 diverse, powerful spray patterns suited perfectly to their preference. But the true secret to the performance lies in Speakman’s patented plunger system, which produces strong, soaking currents under any water pressure.

Introducing the New 2013 Shower and Bath Catalog

You’re not robots, at least we hope. You’re people, who have the same fears, likes and emotions as the rest of us. So why talk to you like you are, in fact, a robot? To us, at Speakman, it doesn’t matter if you’re a consumer or a contractor, a designer or an engineer, you want to be talked to like a person, because well, that’s what you are.

The practice of never-ending sales pitches, thousands upon thousands of spec sheets and dreadful black and white pictures is a dying breed. This year, we at Speakman have decided to shake things up a bit. When we began designing our new 2013 Shower and Bath Catalog, we wanted to approach our readers as readers, and not automated answering machines.

See, we believe that our Shower and Bath Collections have the power to turn a bathroom into a work of art. We believe a beautifully decorated bathroom can ignite inspiration and spark creativity.

We designed our new Catalog to show off our products in a different kind of light. We didn’t want to just display our products, we wanted to tell you the story of our products, and provide anyone who reads this Catalog (robots excluded), with a simple decision making process when selecting the perfect combination of fixtures suitable for their bathroom’s revamping.

2013 Shower and Bath Catalog

Pages from RGB_ShowerNBath2013_SpreadsLRNew Design:

Pages from RGB_ShowerNBath2013_SpreadsLR-2Each Collection featured in the 2013 Shower and Bath Catalog has it’s very own full, one page spread dedicated to showing off the specific Collection in a bathroom-type setting. Showing product shots just wasn’t giving our Collections the justice they deserved.

So we constructed full scaled bathrooms to show off the power these products possess. On each of these spreads we wanted to tell a story of how these Collections came to be. When we develop these products, so much more goes behind the planning than just taking a design to a machine and mass producing them. We create these products because we are inspired to do so. Telling their story gives our products a personality that we want to share with all of our readers.

User Friendly Layout:

Each Collection will have a detailed product map explaining the features and layout of the given products we highlight from each collection.

In addition, we made designing decisions simpler by showing every product offered in the given Collection all on the same page.

New Collections:

The true rock stars of our new Shower and Bath Catalog are our three new Collections we released in 2013, The Edge™Chelsea™ and Tiber™ Collection. Each Collection features distinct, unique designs aimed at completely jump starting your bathroom’s current decor.

When we began designing The Edge™ Collection, we wanted a design that would provide that “head-turning” factor in the bathroom. A collection of fixtures that would leave an impression on anyone who caught a glimpse of them. Each fixture featured within The Edge™ Collection has a very courageous, square design with sharp, crisp edges. We designed these fixtures to look like nothing currently on the market today.

We took a similar approach when designing the Tiber™ Collection as we did with The Edge™ Collection. We wanted bold, unique fixtures for the bathroom that also maintained a soft, humble side to embody modern elegance. We took the same square frame that is featured on The Edge™ Collection, but we intricately etched smooth curves into its sharp boarders. The result is a completely original, totally organic design that defines luxury in the modern bathroom.

For the Chelsea™ Collection, we took an entirely different approach. We became inspired by the idea of combining timeless style with modernized fashion, much like the posh Manhattan neighborhood for which it shares its name. We crafted the fixtures in the Chelsea™ Collection to feature fluid curvatures throughout their frames to exemplify elegance in the transitional bathroom.

New 2013 Shower and Bath Collections

It was almost a year ago today that Speakman® unveiled their 2012 Shower and Bath Collections at HD Expo in Las Vegas. These stunning new collections featured unique, elegant designs that were never before seen in Speakman® fixtures. And more over, these collections displayed our venture in the world of luxury bathroom faucets and bathroom accessories. These collections were created to allow designers, consumers, and contractors alike to completely model a bathroom with cohesively designed fixtures from a brand that has been trusted for both quality and performance for nearly 145 years.

The response was overwhelming, and would end up sparking a era that we at Speakman® refer to as our “reinvention period.” We made a personal vow to consistently strive to go bigger and better each and every year. To test new boundaries and break borders within our industry.

So with that back story being said, it’s our pleasure to announce that at the 2013 Hospitality Design Expo in the gorgeous Las Vegas, Nevada, we will proudly unveiled three new Shower and Bath Collections, each featuring their own original, elegant features aimed at the effortless designing of the luxury bathroom.

The Edge™ Collection:

When we began designing The Edge™ Collection, we wanted a design that would provide that “head-turning” factor in the bathroom. A collection of fixtures that would leave an impression on anyone who caught a glimpse of them. When we started the crafting of them we continuously kept bold, unique and adventurous in our minds.

Each fixture featured within The Edge™ Collection has a very courageous, square design with sharp, crisp edges. We designed these fixtures to look like nothing currently on the market today. The Edge™ Collection includes a Anystream® fixed shower head; single lever, widespread and roman tub faucets; tubspouts; valves with trim and complete shower system packages that are cohesively designed to rejuvenate your bathroom’s decor.

Tiber™ Collection:

The result is a completely original, totally organic design that defines luxury in the modern bathroom. For the Chelsea™ Collection, we took an entirely different approach. We became inspired by the idea of combining timeless style with modernized fashion, much like the posh Manhattan neighborhood for which it shares its name.

We crafted the fixtures in the Chelsea™ Collection to feature fluid curvatures throughout their frames to exemplify elegance in the transitional bathroom. The Chelsea™ Collection includes a Anystream® fixed shower head; centerset and widespread bathroom faucets; valves with trim and shower system packages.

Capture1Now of course, each collection features products that epitomize Speakman® quality and performance. Our patented Anystream® technology featured on each shower head in all three collections delivers versatile, euphoric spray patterns that suit to any bather’s preference. An effortless 360° rotation of the shower head in either direction produces either massaging, intense or flooding spray streams, allowing the bather to choose which setting is perfect for them.

The pressure balance valve ensures uninterrupted pressure and temperature throughout the shower, and also regulates the water temperature from ever becoming scalding-hot.

Discontinued Product Announcement

Today we mourn the loss of a long-running member of the Speakman family. We bid adieu to an entity that has been a staple of our company for years. But let us not fret, let us rejoice, for the loss of this loved one will bring forth great benefits to our environment and water conservation.

S-2222-HS-CPsmbw

Discontinued Product

So you’re probably wondering what on earth we are talking about. We thought we’d add a little pizzaz to an otherwise standard announcement. So, without further wasting your time, as of February 28th, 2013, we are no longer able to sell our popular S-2222-HS-CP dual shower head, other dual shower heads, or the manifold components that allow for dual streams of water from being dispersed.

Why you ask? Because it is illegal. The Department of Energy (DOE) has defined that any shower head releasing greater than 2.5 gallons of water per minute is illegal. Thus, our Dual Shower Heads will now be retiring to that golden bathtub in the sky.

VS-113-BN

Discontinued Product

Now, now…before you start rioting in the streets, flipping over cars and protesting to your local congressmen, let’s think of the environmental ramifications we are making. To begin, over 1.5 billion people do not have access to clean, safe water. And almost 4 million people die each year from water related diseases. So while we are letting the water run while brushing our teeth, and standing in the shower daydreaming about what we are going to wear this weekend, a child is dying from a water born diseases once every 15 seconds.

Okay, so we aren’t trying to guilt trip you into the ground. The truth is, reducing our water intake is not just a good thing, it’s an amazing thing. By switching to shower heads that disperse less than 2 gallons of water per minute, the average family could save up to 2,900 gallons of water per year! Just by shutting your faucet off during tooth brushing saves 200 gallons of water from being wasted a month alone.

So reducing your shower head units to a standard 2.5 gallons of water per minute really isn’t a bad thing at all. We are preserving our earths greatest natural resource one shower at a time.

So what can you do to help remedy this dilemma?

Simple. Run into your bathroom this instant, rip your illegal shower head off the wall and set it on fire so that no evidence what-so-ever remains.

We’re kidding, please don’t do that. Just pick up a replacement diverter like our VS-114, which will allow you to switch between multiple shower heads without having both running simultaneously.

Okay, so we hope you haven’t had a massive panic attack with the release of this statement. We promise, everything is okay.
